Training cat to stay on shoulders 2

Hopefully this is an alternative behavior of sitting in place than jumping on the counter and snatching the turkey. I thought he would like a higher place than a chair to watch me cook. Plus, I want to teach him to stay on my shoulder for longer periods of time while I go hiking. Some cats natually like shoulders. This cat had balance problems when I adopted him. We are using baby steps. Next step is to step onto my shoulder from a training table while I am sitting on a chair. I use clicker training for that. Click means “yes!” that’s the exact baby step I want and immediately reward with a treat. I click and treat for one paw on my shoulder then up my criteria until all four paws are on my shoulder. We will see how he does.
