Pets: The choice between a cat or a dog – Part 1

My personal preference is for cats, but everyone is different.

If you are looking for a companion and a friend then a dog is for you. They’re loyal, love you unconditionally and have great personalities. But on the flip side they are a high maintenance pet. They need walking daily (which is great for keeping you fit), they always make their presence felt, they need bathing and they like a lot of attention.

A cat, on the other hand, always gives the impression that they could take or leave you. Personally I like that, but many people want more from their pets. Cats are clean, quiet, and can be left to their own devices for a lot of the time. Cats can be loyal and friendly but it depends on the mood they’re in.

Getting a cat or a dog is a personal choice – most people prefer one over the other. But if you’re stuck the main consideration should be the amount of time you have to devote to your pet – a dog won’t be happy being a part-time companion, a cat usually won’t like being fussed over 24 hours a day!
